Who We Are
Okoa Mtaani Initiative is a community-based organization dedicated to strengthening our community through practical solutions, shared responsibility, and inclusive development. We bring people together to address real challenges affecting youth, women, students, and vulnerable groups.
Through partnerships, local action, and capacity building, we work to create lasting impact where it matters most — at the community level.

What We Do
Okoa Mtaani Initiative designs and implements community-focused programs aimed at improving livelihoods, strengthening social welfare, and promoting self-reliance. Our core areas of work include:
01.
Talent Development in Sports & Arts
We identify, nurture, and promote young talents in sports and creative arts by creating platforms, events, and support systems that help youth grow their abilities and confidence.
02.
Education Support for Vulnerable Students
We support orphans and underprivileged learners through school fees assistance, learning materials, and dignity programs such as sanitary towel distribution to keep students in school.
03.
Youth & Women Empowerment
We build capacity through skills training, mentorship, and micro-business support so youth and women can achieve economic independence and stability.
04.
Shelter & Care for the Vulnerable
We support elderly and disabled community members through housing improvement initiatives, essential care support, and access to medical assistance.
05.
School Mentorship & Sensitization
We conduct school outreach programs focused on life skills, mental health awareness, mentorship, and positive decision-making for holistic student development.
Impact Stories
From School Dropout Risk to Academic Success
A bright Form 2 student from a single-parent household in West Nyakach Ward faced dropping out due to unpaid fees and lack of sanitary products. Through our Educational Support program, we covered her school fees for the year, provided learning materials, and distributed dignity kits. Today, she is back in class, excelling in exams, and dreaming of becoming a teacher. “Thanks to Okoa Mtaani, I no longer worry about missing school. I can focus on my books and my future.” — Anonymous beneficiary (Form 3 student, 2025)
A Safe Home for an Elderly Widow
Mama Akinyi, an 78-year-old widow with no family support, lived in a leaking mud house that collapsed during heavy rains. Our Shelter and Care for the Vulnerable program mobilized community volunteers and partners to construct a simple, decent iron-sheet home with basic amenities. She now has dignity, security, and access to nearby healthcare. “I never thought I’d have a proper roof over my head again. God bless Okoa Mtaani for giving me this new life.” — Mama Akinyi
